SCRAPYARD LOCOS 2016

A Britannia locomotive that was discovered in a cellar after flood damage. It looked hopeless, but it was saved to run again.

Tender from the same locomotive, some of the rust was left on, weathering at its best.

I have been told, do not use WD40 on model locomotives, but it seemed to be the only way to get the wheels turning again.

Pony and Bogie trucks added, axles now free to run again.

An earlier photo showing the rust damage

Wire brush attachment in action.

Some plastic parts needed replacing.

The ony parts needed, all other parts, motor, smoke unit etc was all in super condition after a good clean up and some TLC.

The body shell added during a clean up with a tooth brush.

Tender cleaned up and the locomotive is complete once more.

The 1961 Britannia joins the 1973 Oliver Cromwell in my Britannia fleet (1975 Iron Duke out of view).

Two Dock Shunter body shells being repaired

New spare parts for future projects.

A class 31 that spent several years in a damp garage. I have a fleet of Class 31's and today it is difficult to see which one had been restored back in 2016.

Class 31 power bogie, believe it or not, this bogie ran again without replacing any of the parts. Today it is a good runner.

Chimney and pick-ups were donated by an old Jinty. Now a lovely Midland Railway locomotive.

Out of a group of ten locomotives that had once been written off, Nine could be saved, five can be seen here.

Smoke unit tested and working during a rebuild, Lovely.
